They are games that are made by small groups of people (or even one-two people) without big publishers backing them up like EA or Nintendo. The normally don't focus on graphics but on game-play is were I see they shine most.

Starting out my Indie game reviews is Bit Trip Presents Runner2 Future Legend of Rhythm Alien by gaijingames. Let me just start out by saying that this game is beautiful. Sure the original had some nice 8-bit looks but when you look at the backgrounds of this game you know they put work into it. But graphics aren’t everything. The gameplay is very smooth. You don’t control the running speed of Commander Video (The main character) but you control the jumping, sliding, shielding, etc. The music fits perfectly into the gameplay and each obstacle you avoid gets a beat out of the music. It all works well and most of the deaths don’t feel like the game cheated you.
When you die in most games, you are greeted to a black screen a sometimes you have to wait awhile before you play again play. During this time most gamers who are frustrated will turn off the game or throw their controller/ break their keyboard. Bit Trip Runner 2 does not have a black screen when you die. It just floats you back to the start of the level/checkpoint. It does not give to time to get mad because you get right back into the action. I never felt like I should quit a level because there was no time to. I always wanted to beat the level because the game does not me angry. The music is very calming and keeps me sane.
The only issues I have with this game is that sometimes Commander Video is hard to see in some worlds. And there is some repetitiveness. If you want to get to a key vault (that unlocks all the keys in the area). You will need to find the alternate exit and then redo the level for the main exit.
Too long didn’t read: This is the part where I summarize the review because I know you didn’t read it. Great game, awesome music, some repetition oh and the voice of The Mario: Charles Martinet is the narrator (bonus points for that).
Rating:Numbers are dumb and people can take them the wrong way. So rating is: Play It ____________________________________________________ That's number one. Next time: Super Meat boy.
