What does "serious, but quirky" even mean? I'm not sure people even know what they mean when they say it.
I mean... Does it mean it'll have a ridiculous premise, but played straight? A sensible plot, but with some strange imaginary and symbolism?

It's an RPG. The first 2 games were based on 1990 (Date wrong?) America instead of your common fantasy games. The story was nice and fun and there was so much character in the characters. This was a game where you would talk to everyone because they all had something fun to say.
Mother 3 on the other hand (the best game in the series) took place in a fantasy world (to an extent). This is the "Serious" one Honey and I are referring to. It had characters die, abused, and the ending will make you cry! But through all that you notice how funny and upbeat it is. It has a serious story but has funny characters. I think that's what we mean by "serious but quirky"
